So I’ve been trying to find ways to make living in California more affordable, without picking up a part time job on top of my full time job. After playing around with a few apps for a few months, I think I’ve collected enough Amazon Gift Cards that would make most people happy. The period examined here is March 8, 2018 to June 10, 2018.
You might be thinking: I can’t pay my rent with Amazon gift cards!
No, but you can do things like buy groceries with Amazon pantry, and then invest the money you would have otherwise spent! Or pay other bills!
Now let’s get down to business!
1. Fetch ($12)
You can scan any receipt from any grocery store and you get fetch rewards points if you bought an item that they are promoting. It’s easier than most receipt scanning apps because you don’t have to pick a rebate or watch any ads. You just scan. At the very least, you get 25 points for scanning a receipt. 3000 points gets you a $3 Amazon gift card. After 3 months, I brought in (or brought back, rather) $21.

2. Receipt Pal ($10)
You can pretty much scan any receipt and doing this 16 times will get you a $1 Amazon gift card. This is even easier than Fetch because you don’t have to zoom in and align the edges of your receipt, and you don’t have to take multiple pictures of your receipt to get every section. You can just hold the camera really far out and take one photo.
3. SwagBucks ($18)
One of the many rewards sites out there. I just do the random things that get me swagbucks like answering the daily poll, exploring promoted content, watching videos, using their search engine, entering swagcodes, etc. I never spend any money to get swagbucks. 300 swagbucks will get you a $3 Amazon gift card.
4. Perk TV ($70)
This is a good way to earn while you are WAITING. Waiting in line, waiting for the waitress, waiting in the car while you’re picking up someone, waiting in the parking lot for work to start because you don’t want to go in early. You can cash out pretty early, but you get the most efficient points to rewards ratio starting at 5000 perk points, which is $5 on Amazon (1000 pts / $1 Amazon GC).
5. ShopKick ($2)
This one can get pretty close to a part time job, but if you are a husband, then you know one thing: it gets really boring taking your wife shopping. So instead of sitting down, I walk into nearby stores and get “Kicks” and then I scan items that they want me to scan and get more kicks. You can scan receipts if you bought a promoted item for more kicks. 500 Kicks will get you a $2 Amazon gift card.

6. Drop (0… so far)
Drop is amazing because it is completely passive. You link a credit card (yes, it’s safe) and then shop as you normally do and you rake in drop points, which you can convert into gift cards. 10,000 will get you a $10 Amazon gift card. It’s kind of like raising your cashback rewards on your credit card. Almost there to 10,000 points!
